Milagres School was founded by Rt Rev Bishop Bernardine of St Agnes, OCD Pro Vicar Apostolic
(1848-1853) in the year 1848 and was entrusted to the care of Mr John Edward Fitzerald, an
Irishman and Monsieur Dupret a Frenchman.
Considering the need of having an English Medium school for boys in the city, the then Headmaster
Rev Fr Charles Aranha applied for permission to open English Medium Parallel Sections and was
granted permission to open Std I on 29th June 1965 in consideration of the recommendation by the
Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Mysore. Subsequently permission to open sections for STD II
to VI was granted on 8th July 1965. In the following year permission was accorded to open Std VII on
20th September 1966. The school functions under the Catholic Board of Education and the local
Management of Milagres Church.

Milagres School started with classes I to V form in vernacular language and later in the year 1929, July 23 was accorded permanent recognition as an independent Secondary Institution by the Director of Public Instructions, Madras. Considering the need of having an English Medium school for boys in the city the then Headmaster Rev. Fr. Charles Aranha applied for permission to open English Medium parallel sections and was granted permission to open Std. I with order no. E7(a)(E12) 75526-221/64-65 dated 29.06.1965 in consideration of the recommendation by the Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Mysore. Subsequently permission to open sections for Std. II to VI, order no. EM(a) 13685-140/65-66 dated 08.07.1965 was granted .
The students of our institution have excelled not only in academics but also in sports due to the ample opportunities
provided in sports and physical training.
